Allegations Hit European Casino
LISBON, Portugal - Police
raided the homes of employees of Europe's largest casino,
uncovering up to $461,000 in an alleged lending scheme,
reports said Saturday.
As many as 10 workers from Casino Estoril face
charges of usury and extortion, the weekly Expresso said.
Police also found jewels in the raid Wednesday, it said.
Police also searched the homes of seven of the
casino's regular gamblers as part of a three-year
investigation. More than 40 gamblers also were banned from
entering the Lisbon-area casino, which is owned by Macau
magnate Stanley Ho, Expresso said.
